How we're celebrating Christmas at The Crown, Bildeston

Updated: Oct 22, 2024

Christmas is a special season, cherished and celebrated by each family in their own way. At The Crown, we have our own traditions too, growing year after year. With centuries of December celebrations behind us and countless Christmas dinners served to all, we’ve learned a thing or two about making a day that can sometimes be stressful feel a little smoother! We welcome both old and new traditions, which is why we’re eager to invite you through our festive doors this holiday season.

Our fireplace is warming throughout the cold months, and a pot of tea or a glass of mulled wine is never in short supply.

We’re especially excited for this year’s festivities, thanks to some recent changes! Our redesign has given us the opportunity to create spaces suited to a variety of atmospheres—whether you’re looking for evening dining or just a relaxed drink at the bar. The Paddock Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a drink and a comfortable spot to watch sports, while our bar provides a family- and dog-friendly space for both dining and drinks. If you’re planning a private group gathering, the Suffolk, Ingrams, and Kennedy rooms are ideal for events—whether it’s a formal work-do or a casual family get-together.

“We want to cater to any occasion,” says George Bonwick, The Crown’s general manager. “But of course, no occasion is needed to stop by! Our fire is always lit, and we’ll always have a seat waiting for you.”

Our festive offerings extend beyond our cosy spaces. Executive Chef Greig Young has curated a festive menu, crafted with the help of our gardeners at Nedging Hall. This menu will be served alongside our seasonal à la carte options, so you’ll never feel limited in your choices. We do kindly ask that you book in advance so we can ensure your experience runs as smoothly as possible. Using fresh, homegrown produce, our menu offers something for every palate—from the traditional roast turkey to soft herb cod risotto.

And of course, there’s Christmas Day itself! Our Christmas Day menu offers even more variety, blending classic festive dishes with some of our chef’s personal holiday favorites.

We're also hosting a festive wreath-making event on November 28th—a day filled with creativity, mulled wine, and mince pies, with all materials provided. There’s still plenty of time to book, simply give us a call 01449 740510.

We can’t wait to share our Christmas spirit with you this season, especially as our decorations will be going up soon. Keep an eye out...
