Welcoming New Executive Chef to The Crown

Updated: Sep 30

The Crown opens a new chapter... We've enjoyed a refresh throughout our charming 15th century pub. Colours and furniture were selected to be in keeping with the timber-framed building, and we think we've achieved the relaxed vibe that we're going for. Greig Young has also joined the team as Executive Chef. A warm welcome Greig!

A seasoned chef with an abundance of experience and knowledge to share with us. Greig has worked in the culinary industry for nearly 20 years, beginning when he was as young as 15. Having trained in Scotland, Greig travelled to the other side of the globe to work in  Australia and New Zealand.

Despite his world travels, he's found home in Suffolk and has been settled here for 10 years. Greig commented that he is “excited to revitalise The Crown and be able to work in such a successful business.”  The Crown has always been considered “a place to celebrate,” as Greig recalls coming to our Sunday Lunch in the past and hearing of the establishment in earlier years. He's looking forward to being the first-place locals think of to pop in to for a quick and tasty supper...

Eager to continue The Crown’s legacy and bring it forward into a new chapter, Greig admires The Crown for what it has grown into and can’t wait to “put his stamp on it”.

Greig commented on the ‘estate-to-plate' ethos of The Crown, admiring the team’s passion for ethical dining stating “it is music to my ears. To have the kitchen garden at Nedging Hall to pick seasonal produce from inspires us chefs and keeps menus fresh which is exactly what people want…”

Having recently won the award for East Anglian Daily Times Environmental and Sustainability Business of the Year, The Crown has truly affirmed itself as a restaurant that puts the environment first and Greig is eager to be a part of that mission.  There’s a real buzz about the place and with a brilliant team in place, The Crown looks set to do some great things in the coming months...
